Area Code 239 – Ha Tinh province

Overview of Area Code 239 (Vietnam)

Area code 239 is the national destination code (NDC) assigned to the landline telephone network of Ha Tinh province, located in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. This geographic code is used for fixed-line services within the province, covering the provincial capital of Ha Tinh City and all districts, including Hong Linh, Cau Giat, and other administrative units. The code is part of Vietnam's national numbering plan under ITU-T E.164, and it replaced the earlier 039 code following the national telecom renumbering in 2017.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

Ha Tinh province shares borders with Nghe An to the north, Quang Binh to the south, Laos to the west, and the East Sea to the east. The area code serves both urban and rural subscribers, including government offices, businesses, and residential customers. As a geographic code, it is tied to the physical location of the subscriber's line, and calls are routed based on the destination's central office.

Dialing Formats

For local calls within Ha Tinh (same area code), subscribers typically dial the 7-digit subscriber number without the trunk prefix or area code. For calls from other provinces within Vietnam, the format is: 0 239 XXX XXXX (trunk prefix 0, area code 239, and the 7-digit local number). For international calls to Ha Tinh, callers must dial the Vietnam country code (+84), then the area code without the leading 0, followed by the subscriber number: +84 239 XXX XXXX.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for Ha Tinh; 239 remains the sole geographic area code for the province. The subscriber number length is 7 digits, making the total national significant number (NSN) 10 digits when including the area code. This structure is consistent with Vietnam's fixed-line numbering plan.

Caller Instructions

For domestic callers outside Ha Tinh, always include the trunk prefix 0 before the area code. For international callers, replace the trunk prefix with the +84 country code and omit the leading 0. Ensure you have the correct 7-digit local number; missing a digit will result in a routing error. For any issues, contact your service provider or consult the official Vietnam telecommunications numbering plan.
