Area Code 235 – Quang Nam province

Overview of Area Code 235

Area code 235 is the National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the province of Quang Nam in central Vietnam. It is a geographic code within the Vietnamese numbering plan, which adheres to the ITU-T E.164 international standard. The code is used for fixed-line telephone services (PSTN) within the province, including both urban and rural districts. Quang Nam is known for the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Hoi An and My Son, and its administrative center is Tam Ky city.

Geographic Coverage and Administration

The 235 area code covers the entire administrative territory of Quang Nam province, which includes the provincial capital Tam Ky, the historic town of Hoi An, and other districts such as Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Que Son, and Phu Ninh. The code is managed by the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority under the Ministry of Information and Communications. Subscriber numbers within this code typically have a length of 7 digits, making the total international dialing format +84 235 XXX XXXX (when including the country code).

Dialing Formats and Instructions

For callers within Vietnam, dialing a Quang Nam fixed-line number requires the trunk prefix 0 followed by the area code and subscriber number: 0 235 XXX XXXX. For example, to call a number in Tam Ky, you would dial 0 235 3XX XXXX from any other province. For international callers, the format is +84 235 XXX XXXX (or 0084 235 XXX XXXX from some countries using the international access code). It is important to note that when dialing internationally, the leading 0 of the national trunk prefix is omitted.

Overlays and Numbering Changes

As of the latest updates, there are no overlay codes for Quang Nam; the 235 code is unique to the province. However, due to the increasing demand for telecommunication services, the numbering plan is periodically reviewed. Subscribers should be aware that any future changes would be announced well in advance by the national regulator. For now, the 235 code remains stable and reliable for both local and international communication.

Practical Usage and Tips

When storing or sharing Vietnamese fixed-line numbers in international contexts, always use the full international format: +84 235 XXX XXXX. This ensures proper routing from any country. For local calls within Quang Nam, you may still need to dial the area code even if you are in the same province, depending on the local dialing plan. Always check with your service provider for the most current dialing instructions. For businesses, having a 235 number establishes a local presence in Quang Nam, which can enhance trust among local customers.
