Area Code 6261 – Krasny Liman, Donetsk

Geographic Overview

The +380 6261 dialing prefix is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the fixed-line telephone network serving the city of Krasny Liman (also referred to as Lyman) and its surrounding settlements within the Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine. This area falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Donetsk regional council and is part of the historic Donbas region. The code is used for traditional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) services, including wired landlines and some fixed wireless access lines.

Geographic Coverage and Major Localities

The 6261 code covers the urban territory of Krasny Liman and adjacent rural communities, including the districts of Yampil, Zarichne, and Torske. These localities are situated in the northern part of Donetsk Oblast, near the border with Kharkiv Oblast. The region has been affected by ongoing conflict, and network infrastructure may be subject to changes or outages. For accurate service availability, contact the local telecom operator.

Dialing Formats

When placing a call to a fixed line in Krasny Liman, the dialing format depends on the caller's location:

• Domestic calls within Ukraine: Dial the trunk prefix 0, followed by the NDC 6261 and the subscriber number (typically 5 to 7 digits). Example: 0 6261 12345.
• International calls from abroad: Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries, or + from mobile phones), then the Ukraine country code 380, the NDC 6261, and the subscriber number. Example: +380 6261 12345.
• Local calls within the same exchange: In some cases, local calls may be dialed using only the subscriber number without the area code, but this depends on the operator's dialing plan. For clarity, always use the full national format.

Numbering and Overlay Considerations

As of the latest ITU-T E.164 national numbering plan, Ukraine uses an open dialing plan for fixed lines, requiring the trunk prefix '0' for domestic calls. There are no overlay codes for this area; the 6261 code is unique to Krasny Liman and its vicinity. Subscriber numbers within this code are not portable to other geographic areas, but fixed-line number portability may be available within the same operator's network.

Caller Instructions

For callers within Ukraine, always include the trunk prefix '0' before the area code when dialing from a different region. For international callers, omit the leading '0' and use the country code +380. Ensure you have the correct subscriber number, as numbers in this region may have varying lengths. Due to potential network disruptions in the area, it is advisable to have alternative contact methods.
