Area Code 5765 – Pechenegi, Kharkiv

Geographic Overview and Administrative Jurisdiction

The area code 5765 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Pechenegi and its surrounding rural district within the Kharkiv Oblast of eastern Ukraine. Administratively, Pechenegi serves as the administrative center of the Pechenizkyi Raion, situated along the left bank of the Donets River, approximately 55 kilometers southeast of the city of Kharkiv. The code falls under the broader numbering plan of Ukraine, which is governed by the National Commission for State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NCCIR) in accordance with ITU-T E.164 recommendations.

Geographic Coverage and Primary Localities

The 5765 prefix covers Pechenegi town and the adjacent villages, including Martove, Kyslivka, and Artemivka. This is a predominantly rural area with a modest population density, and the code is used for fixed-line PSTN services. Subscribers within this region are assigned seven-digit local numbers, resulting in a complete international format of +380 5765 XXX XX (where X represents the local subscriber digits).

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For local callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix 0 must be dialed before the area code and subscriber number. Thus, a call from Kyiv to Pechenegi would be dialed as 0 5765 XXX XX. However, callers from outside Ukraine must replace the trunk prefix with the country code +380, omitting the leading zero, resulting in +380 5765 XXX XX. It is important to note that when dialing internationally, the plus sign (+) represents the international access code used in the caller's country (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from the United States).

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for the 5765 area; the code is exclusively dedicated to the Pechenegi exchange. However, as part of Ukraine's ongoing telecommunications modernization, fixed-line subscribers may be migrated to VoIP infrastructure, but the geographic NDC remains unchanged. For callers, this means that the dialing format remains consistent regardless of the underlying technology. It is also worth noting that number portability is available for fixed-line services in Ukraine, allowing subscribers to retain their numbers when changing operators within the same geographic area.

Practical Examples for Callers

• Local call within Pechenegi: Dial the 7-digit subscriber number directly (e.g., 5 12 34 56).
• National call from another Ukrainian city: Dial 0 5765 5 12 34 56.
• International call from abroad: Dial your country's international access code, then 380 5765 5 12 34 56 (e.g., from the UK: 00 380 5765 5 12 34 56; from the US: 011 380 5765 5 12 34 56).

For businesses or individuals in Pechenegi, it is essential to display numbers in international format on websites and marketing materials to facilitate global communication. Always verify the current dialing procedures with your telecom provider, as routing may vary depending on the operator and the caller's location.
