Area Code 5763 – Carriers, Kharkiv

Overview of Area Code +380 5763

Area code 5763 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Ukrainian public switched telephone network (PSTN), assigned to the Kharkiv region (Kharkivska oblast) in eastern Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164. Specifically, +380 5763 routes calls to fixed-line subscribers in the Carriers district, a suburban and rural area surrounding the city of Kharkiv. The code is used for local, national, and international calling, and it is distinct from the larger Kharkiv city code (57) and other regional codes.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 5763 code covers the Carriers (Кегичівка) district, which is administratively part of Kharkiv Oblast. This area includes the town of Kehychivka and surrounding villages. The code is allocated to fixed-line services, including residential and business lines, and is operated by various local telecommunications providers, such as Ukrtelecom and alternative operators. The region is primarily agricultural, with small to medium-sized enterprises, and the code supports both voice and data services over traditional copper and modern fiber-optic infrastructure.

Dialing Formats and Instructions

For callers within Ukraine, the national dialing format is 0 5763 XXX XX, where the leading '0' is the trunk prefix. For example, to call a subscriber with the local number 12345, you would dial 0 5763 12345. For international callers, the format is +380 5763 XXX XX, replacing the trunk prefix with the country code +380. For instance, from abroad, you would dial +380 5763 12345. It is important to note that the number length after the country code is typically 9 digits, including the NDC (5763) and the subscriber number (5 to 7 digits).

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest updates, there are no overlay codes for the 5763 area. The Kharkiv region has multiple area codes (e.g., 57 for Kharkiv city, 574x for other districts), but 5763 is dedicated to the Carriers district. Subscribers within this code do not require additional digits for local calls, and the code is not subject to number portability between geographic areas, though fixed-line number portability is available within the same geographic region under Ukrainian regulations.

Caller Instructions

Local callers within the same area code can dial the subscriber number directly without the trunk prefix or area code, but this practice is becoming less common as the network modernizes. For national calls from other regions, dial 0 5763 followed by the subscriber number. For international callers, always use the full international format +380 5763 and the subscriber number. Ensure you check the correct number of digits, as some subscriber numbers may have 5 to 7 digits.
