Area Code 5748 – Pervomaysk, Kharkiv

Overview of Area Code +380 5748

The telephone area code +380 5748 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned within the Ukrainian national numbering plan, under the international country calling code +380 (Ukraine). This code serves the city of Pervomaysk and its surrounding administrative district in the Kharkiv Oblast (Kharkiv region) of eastern Ukraine. Pervomaysk is a city of regional significance, located approximately 90 kilometers southeast of the city of Kharkiv, and the area code is used for fixed-line (PSTN) services within this locality.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The +380 5748 prefix is allocated to the Pervomaysk district of Kharkiv Oblast. It encompasses the urban area of Pervomaysk itself, as well as nearby villages and settlements that fall under the district's administrative jurisdiction. The code is part of the broader 574 numbering area, which is assigned to the Kharkiv region's outlying districts. Subscribers within this area are typically connected to the local fixed-line network, operated by the incumbent telecom provider (Ukrtelecom) and alternative fixed-line operators.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

• Local dialing (within Ukraine): To call a Pervomaysk number from another Ukrainian city, dial 0 5748 followed by the subscriber's 5- to 7-digit local number. For example, a local number might be 2-34-56, so the full national format would be 0 5748 2-34-56.
• International dialing (from abroad): Callers outside Ukraine should dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from North America) followed by 380 5748 and the local subscriber number. For instance, to reach a Pervomaysk number 2-34-56, you would dial +380 5748 2-34-56.

Numbering Plan and Overlay Considerations

Ukrainian fixed-line numbers typically have a total length of 9 digits after the country code, including the NDC. The NDC 5748 is a 4-digit code, leaving 5 digits for the subscriber number. As of the current numbering plan, there are no overlay codes for this area; the 5748 prefix remains the sole geographic code for Pervomaysk. However, with the ongoing migration to IP-based telephony, some numbers may be assigned to VoIP providers, but the geographic association remains for number portability purposes.

Practical Usage

For local callers within Pervomaysk, short-dialing (without the area code) may be possible, but it is recommended to use the full national format for clarity. For international callers, it is essential to replace the trunk prefix '0' with the country code '380' when dialing from abroad. This area code is used for both residential and business fixed-line services, including internet and telephony bundles.
