Area Code 5746 – Chuguev, Kharkiv

Overview of Area Code +380 5746

Area code 5746 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Ukrainian telephone numbering plan, assigned to the city of Chuhuiv and its surrounding district in the Kharkiv Oblast of eastern Ukraine. The code is part of the larger Kharkiv regional numbering cluster (57xx), which serves the administrative center of Kharkiv and adjacent localities. Chuhuiv, located approximately 40 kilometers southeast of Kharkiv, is an important industrial and cultural hub, known for its aviation history and the Chuhuiv Air Base.

Geographic Coverage and Administration

The 5746 code covers the urban territory of Chuhuiv and the villages within the Chuhuiv Raion. It is administered by the Ukrainian State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection, which oversees the national numbering plan in compliance with ITU-T E.164 recommendations. Subscribers within this area are assigned local numbers typically ranging from 5 to 7 digits, resulting in a total national significant number (NSN) length of 9 to 10 digits (including the leading '0' for domestic calls).

Dialing Formats

• Local calls (within Chuhuiv): If you are calling a landline within the same local area, you may dial the subscriber number directly without the trunk prefix or area code. However, due to the widespread adoption of closed dialing plans, it is common to always dial the full national number.
• Domestic long-distance calls (from other Ukrainian cities): Dial the trunk prefix 0, followed by the area code 5746, and then the local subscriber number. For example, to call a Chuhuiv landline with the local number 12345, you would dial: 0 5746 12345.
• International calls (from abroad): Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries, or + from mobile phones), followed by Ukraine's country code 380, the area code without the leading '0' (5746), and the local subscriber number. For the same example, you would dial: +380 5746 12345.

Overlays and Numbering Considerations

As of the current numbering plan, there is no overlay code for Chuhuiv; the 5746 code is exclusively used for the geographic area. However, with the ongoing migration of fixed-line services to VoIP and the introduction of number portability, subscribers may retain their 5746 numbers even if they switch to an alternative service provider. Callers should always verify the current dialing procedures with their telecom operator, as local dialing habits may vary.

Caller Instructions

For local callers within Ukraine, always include the trunk prefix '0' when dialing from a different area code. For international callers, remember to drop the leading '0' and use the +380 country code. Ensure you have the correct local subscriber number, as the length may vary. If you encounter difficulties, contact your service provider for assistance.
