Area Code 5639 – Vasylkivka, Dnipro

Geographic Overview

The area code 5639 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Vasylkivka and its surrounding district in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast of Ukraine. Vasylkivka is located approximately 70 kilometers southeast of the city of Dnipro, the administrative center of the region. The code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164.

Dialing Formats

When calling a landline in Vasylkivka from within Ukraine, subscribers must dial the national trunk prefix 0, followed by the area code 5639 and the subscriber number. The complete national format is 0 5639 XX-XX-XX, where the subscriber number typically consists of 6 digits. For example, a local number might be 0 5639 123456.

For international callers, the Ukrainian country code +380 replaces the trunk prefix. Thus, the international format becomes +380 5639 XX-XX-XX, e.g., +380 5639 123456. When dialing from abroad, the leading zero of the area code is omitted.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers (within Vasylkivka): In most cases, local calls within the same area code can be made using the 6-digit subscriber number alone, without the area code. However, some operators may require the full national format; it is advisable to check with your service provider.
• National callers (from other regions of Ukraine): Dial 0 5639 followed by the subscriber number.
• International callers: Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries), then 380 5639 and the subscriber number.

Regulatory and Technical Notes

Ukraine has implemented number portability for fixed lines, meaning that a subscriber may retain their number when changing operators within the same geographic area. However, the geographic significance of the code remains tied to the physical location of the exchange. As of the latest updates, there are no overlay codes in Vasylkivka; the 5639 code is the sole NDC for this area. The numbering capacity follows the standard Ukrainian plan, which allocates 7-digit numbers (area code + subscriber number) for geographic services.

For businesses, using a geographic number like 5639 can establish a local presence and build trust with customers in the Dnipropetrovsk region. It is important to note that calls to this number are charged according to the caller's tariff plan, typically as a local or national call depending on the origin.
