Area Code 5459 – Krasnopolye, Sumy

Geographic Overview

The area code 5459 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Krasnopolye (also known as Krasnopillia) and its surrounding rural districts within the Sumy Oblast of northeastern Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies under the framework of ITU-T E.164. Geographically, Krasnopolye lies near the Russian border, approximately 25 kilometers east of the regional capital Sumy. The code covers the administrative district of Krasnopillia Raion, including smaller settlements and agricultural communities that rely on the fixed PSTN infrastructure.

Dialing Formats

When calling a subscriber within the Krasnopolye area from another Ukrainian city or from a mobile network, the national trunk prefix 0 must be dialed before the area code. The full national format is 0 5459 XXX XX, where the subscriber number consists of five digits. For example, a local number might be 3 45 67, and the complete national dialing sequence would be 0 5459 3 45 67. From abroad, callers must replace the leading zero with the Ukrainian country code +380, resulting in the international format +380 5459 3 45 67. Note that the international format omits the trunk prefix and any spaces or hyphens are for readability only.

Calling Instructions

For local callers within the Krasnopolye exchange area, it may be possible to dial only the five-digit subscriber number without the area code, depending on the local network configuration. However, for clarity and to avoid misdialing, it is recommended to always use the full national format. For callers from other regions of Ukraine, dial 0 5459 followed by the subscriber number. For international callers, dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries), then 380 5459 and the subscriber number. Ensure you omit the initial zero of the area code when dialing from abroad.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest ITU-T and national updates, there is no overlay code for this geographic area; the 5459 code remains the sole NDC for fixed-line services in Krasnopolye. The subscriber numbers within this code are typically five digits long, but some legacy lines may have fewer digits. Always confirm the exact number with the subscriber or a directory service. The code is exclusively used for fixed PSTN lines; mobile numbers in the same region use non-geographic prefixes such as 50, 66, 95, etc., and are not affected by this geographic code.
