Geographic Coverage and Administration

Area code 5457 is allocated to the administrative district of Velyka Pysarivka Raion, which is situated in the southern part of Sumy Oblast. The principal town, Velyka Pysarivka, serves as the administrative center. The numbering area encompasses the town itself and several adjacent villages, all of which are served by the local fixed-line exchange. The code is administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) and the National Commission for State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NKRZI), in accordance with the national numbering plan.

Dialing Formats and Usage

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix is '0', so a local call to a subscriber in Great Pisarivka requires dialing 0 5457 X XX XX, where '0' is the trunk prefix, '5457' is the area code, and the subscriber number consists of five digits. The complete national significant number (NSN) length is nine digits (excluding the trunk prefix). For example, a typical local number might be 0 5457 2 34 56.

For international callers, the Ukrainian country code +380 is used, and the trunk prefix '0' is omitted. Therefore, an international call to the same subscriber would be dialed as +380 5457 2 34 56. The plus sign represents the international access code used in the caller's country (e.g., '00' in most European countries, '011' in North America).

Caller Instructions

• Local callers (within Ukraine): Always dial the trunk prefix '0' before the area code, even if calling from a mobile phone. For example, to call a fixed line in Great Pisarivka from Kyiv, dial 0 5457 2 34 56.
• International callers: Dial your country's international exit code, then 380 5457 2 34 56. Do not include the leading '0' of the area code.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest available data, there is no overlay plan for area code 5457, meaning that the geographic area is served exclusively by this code. Subscriber numbers within this code are five digits long, and the total number of assignable lines is limited by the capacity of the local exchange. The code is used solely for fixed-line services, including PSTN and VoIP-based fixed lines that are registered to a physical address in the area. Mobile services in Ukraine use separate non-geographic prefixes (e.g., 50, 63, 66, 67, 68, 73, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99) and are not affected by this geographic code.

Importance for Businesses and Residents

For businesses operating in the Sumy region, having a local number with area code 5457 establishes a local presence and can reduce the cost of incoming calls from within the region. For residents, this code is essential for accessing public services, local businesses, and emergency services. When dialing from abroad, it is crucial to use the correct international format to avoid misrouted calls.
