Area Code 5344 – New Sanzhary, Poltava

Overview of Area Code +380 5344

Area code +380 5344 is a geographic destination code within the Ukrainian national numbering plan, assigned to the town of New Sanzhary (Novi Sanzhary) and the surrounding settlements in the Poltava Oblast. This code is used for fixed-line telephone services connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) in this region. The administrative center of the district, Novi Sanzhary, is located about 35 kilometers southwest of Poltava, the oblast capital.

Geographic Coverage and Jurisdiction

The code covers the Novi Sanzhary district, which includes the urban-type settlement of Novi Sanzhary and numerous villages. The region is part of the historical Poltava area, known for its agricultural production and proximity to the Vorskla River. The numbering area is administered by the Ukrainian national telecom regulator, the National Commission for State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NKRZI), and follows the ITU-T E.164 international numbering standard.

Dialing Formats

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix is 0, followed by the area code 5344 and the subscriber number (typically 5 to 6 digits). For example, a local number might be dialed as 0 5344 2 34 56. When calling from abroad, the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries) is followed by Ukraine's country code 380, then the area code without the leading zero, and the subscriber number. Thus, an international call would be formatted as +380 5344 2 34 56.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within the Novi Sanzhary area can often dial the subscriber number directly without the area code, depending on the local network configuration. However, for calls from other Ukrainian cities, always use the full national format: 0 5344 XXX XXX.
• International callers must replace the leading zero with the +380 country code, resulting in +380 5344 XXX XXX. Ensure you have the correct international exit code for your country (e.g., 011 from North America).

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest updates, there is no overlay code for this area. The subscriber number length may vary, but the total length of the national significant number (NSN) for Ukraine is 9 digits, including the area code. Therefore, after the trunk prefix 0 and area code 5344, the subscriber number will have 5 digits, making the complete national number 0 5344 XX XXX (9 digits). Always verify the exact number of digits with your local provider, as some legacy numbers may have different lengths.

This area code is used exclusively for fixed-line services; mobile numbers in Ukraine use non-geographic prefixes starting with 50, 63, 66, 67, 68, 73, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, or 99. For VoIP services, numbers may be assigned from geographic codes, but they are not tied to a physical location. When calling a New Sanzhary number, be aware that the call may be routed over IP networks, but the tariff and dialing format remain the same.
