Area Code 4746 – Monastyrysche, Cherkasy

Geographic Overview

The +380 4746 dialing prefix is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Monastyrysche and its surrounding rural areas within the Cherkasy Oblast (province) of central Ukraine. Monastyrysche serves as the administrative center of the Monastyryshche Raion (district) and is located approximately 200 kilometers south of the capital, Kyiv. The code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164.

Dialing Formats

For domestic callers within Ukraine, the prefix is dialed as 0 (trunk prefix) + 4746 + subscriber number. The complete national significant number (NSN) length is 9 digits, excluding the leading trunk '0'. Thus, a local subscriber number of 5 or 6 digits results in a full NSN of 9 digits (e.g., 0 4746 12345). For international callers, the country code +380 is used, followed by the NSN without the trunk prefix: +380 4746 12345. When dialing from abroad, the leading '0' is omitted.

Geographic Coverage and Numbering

The 4746 code covers Monastyrysche town and the adjacent villages within the raion. Subscriber numbers are allocated by local fixed-line operators, primarily Ukrtelecom, which historically holds the majority of fixed lines in rural areas. As with all geographic codes in Ukraine, the number range is tied to a physical exchange, but since the liberalization of the telecom market, alternative operators may offer services using this code via unbundled local loop or VoIP gateways, though the geographic association remains.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers (within Monastyrysche): In most cases, local calls within the same exchange can be made using the subscriber number directly, but due to the small size of the code area, it is common to dial the full national format (0 4746 ...) even for local calls, as per operator guidelines.
• National callers (from other Ukrainian cities): Dial 0 4746 [subscriber number].
• International callers: Dial your country's exit code (e.g., 00 or +), then 380 4746 [subscriber number].

Regulatory and Technical Notes

As of 2025, there are no overlay codes for Monastyrysche; the 4746 code is the sole geographic code for this area. Number portability is not yet fully implemented for fixed-line services in Ukraine, so the code generally reflects the physical location of the line. For VoIP users, it is essential to ensure that the service provider supports geographic numbering and proper routing to PSTN networks to avoid misdialing.
