Area Code 4735 – Korsun-Shevchenkivsky, Cherkasy

Geographic Overview and Administrative Jurisdiction

The Ukrainian national destination code 4735 is a geographic area code assigned to the town of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi and its surrounding rural districts within the Cherkasy Oblast (province) of central Ukraine. Administratively, this code falls under the jurisdiction of the Cherkasy territorial numbering zone, which is managed by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) and the National Commission for State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NCCIR). The town itself serves as the administrative center of the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi Raion, and the numbering area encompasses the urban settlement and adjacent villages within the raion's boundaries.

Geographic Coverage and Primary Localities

The 4735 numbering area covers Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi and the immediate rural hinterland. Key settlements that may be reached via this code include the town center, the villages of Sotnyky, Myropillia, and Vynohrad, among others. The region is situated approximately 120 kilometers southeast of Kyiv, the national capital, and about 60 kilometers west of Cherkasy, the oblast capital. The area is known for its historical significance, including the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi State Historical and Cultural Reserve, and its scenic location along the Ros River.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix 0 must be dialed before the area code and subscriber number. The complete national format is 0 4735 XX XX XX, where the subscriber number typically consists of seven digits following the trunk prefix. For example, a local number might be dialed as 0 4735 2 34 56 (note that the subscriber number may vary in length depending on the local exchange). For international callers, the Ukrainian country code +380 is used, and the leading trunk prefix '0' is omitted. Thus, the international format becomes +380 4735 XX XX XX. For instance, if a local number is 2 34 56, the international dialing format would be +380 4735 2 34 56.

It is important to note that within the same numbering area, local calls may be placed by dialing only the subscriber number, depending on the operator's local dialing plan. However, for calls from other regions or from mobile networks, the full national format with the trunk prefix is required. There are no known overlay codes in this area, so the 4735 code is the sole geographic code for the region.

Technical and Regulatory Considerations

As a fixed-line service, the 4735 code is primarily used for PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services provided by local operators. The code is not portable to mobile numbers, and mobile numbers in Ukraine use non-geographic prefixes (e.g., 50, 63, 67, etc.). Callers should be aware that calls to this geographic number are typically charged at standard fixed-line rates, which may vary depending on the caller's operator and tariff plan. For international callers, charges are determined by the international tariff of the originating country.
