Area Code 4659 – Semenivka, Chernihiv

Geographic Overview

The area code +380 4659 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Semenivka and its surrounding district in the Chernihiv Oblast of northern Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164. Geographically, Semenivka is situated near the border with Russia, approximately 240 kilometers northeast of Kyiv. The code serves both the urban settlement and the rural communities within the Semenivka Raion.

Dialing Formats

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix 0 is used before the area code. Therefore, a local number in Semenivka is dialed as:

• 0 4659 XXX XX (national format)

For international callers, the Ukrainian country code +380 replaces the trunk prefix, resulting in the format:

• +380 4659 XXX XX (international format)

Subscriber numbers in this code are typically 5 to 7 digits long, depending on the specific exchange and historical allocation. The complete national significant number (NSN) length is 9 digits, including the leading '0' of the area code.

Caller Instructions

Local callers: When calling from another fixed line within the same area code, it may be possible to dial only the subscriber number without the area code, depending on the local exchange configuration. However, for clarity and to avoid misdialing, it is recommended to always use the full national format.

National callers (from other regions of Ukraine): Dial 0 4659 followed by the subscriber number. The trunk prefix '0' is essential for routing within the Ukrainian PSTN.

International callers: Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries, or + on mobile networks), then 380 4659, and finally the subscriber number. Do not include the leading '0' of the area code when dialing from abroad.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest available data, there is no overlay code for the Semenivka area. The 4659 code is exclusively used for fixed-line services, primarily provided by the national incumbent operator Ukrtelecom and alternative fixed-line operators. Mobile and VoIP services in the region are assigned non-geographic codes (e.g., 50, 63, 66, 67, 68, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99) and are not affected by this geographic code.

Number portability is available in Ukraine for fixed-line services, allowing subscribers to retain their numbers when changing operators within the same geographic area, subject to regulatory conditions.
