Area Code 4653 – Borzna, Chernihiv

Overview of Area Code +380 4653

Area code +380 4653 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Borzna and its surrounding rural districts within the Chernihiv Oblast of northern Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164. Geographically, Borzna is located approximately 100 km southeast of the regional capital, Chernihiv, and about 200 km northeast of Kyiv.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 4653 code covers the urban territory of Borzna and the villages within the Borznianskyi Raion (district). As of the 2020 administrative reform, the district was merged into the larger Nizhyn Raion, but the telephone numbering remains unchanged. The code serves both residential and business subscribers connected to the local PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). Fixed-line numbers under this code are typically used by local government offices, schools, agricultural enterprises, and private households.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For callers within Ukraine (domestic calls), the number is dialed as 0 4653 XX-XX-XX, where the leading '0' is the trunk prefix. For example, a local Borzna number might be 0 4653 2-45-67. When calling from abroad, the international format is +380 4653 XX-XX-XX (or +380 4653 2-45-67). The total number length after the country code is 9 digits (including the 4-digit area code and 5-digit subscriber number).

Local callers within the Borzna area can often dial the subscriber number directly without the area code, depending on the operator's local dialing plan. However, for clarity and consistency, it is recommended to always use the full national format. Callers from other regions of Ukraine must include the trunk prefix '0' and the area code. International callers should replace the leading '0' with the +380 country code.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for the 4653 area; it is the sole geographic code for Borzna. The subscriber number length is 5 digits, which is typical for smaller towns in Ukraine. The code is administered by PJSC Ukrtelecom, the incumbent fixed-line operator, although alternative operators may also provide services in the region using this code.

Practical Information for Callers

When calling a Borzna number from a mobile phone within Ukraine, you must still dial the full national number (0 4653...). From abroad, use the +380 prefix. Be aware that call charges may vary depending on your operator and tariff plan. For emergency services, always dial the national emergency numbers (101, 102, 103, 104) regardless of the area code.
