Area Code 4346 – Pogrebishche, Vinnytsia

Overview of Area Code +380 4346

Area code +380 4346 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Pohrebyshche and the surrounding Pohrebyshche Raion in the Vinnytsia Oblast of Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164. The geographic coverage includes Pohrebyshche itself, as well as smaller settlements within the raion, such as Novofastiv, Rozkopane, and Snizhna. The administrative center of the raion is Pohrebyshche, located approximately 120 kilometers southwest of Kyiv and 80 kilometers east of Vinnytsia.

Dialing Formats and Usage

When calling a fixed-line subscriber in Pohrebyshche from within Ukraine, the trunk prefix 0 is dialed followed by the area code 4346 and the subscriber number. The national significant number (NSN) length for this geographic area is typically 9 digits, comprising the NDC (4 digits) and a 5-digit subscriber number. For example, a local number might be formatted as 0 4346 2-12-34 when dialed nationally. From abroad, callers must use the international prefix (e.g., 00 or +) followed by Ukraine's country code 380, then the area code without the leading zero, and the subscriber number: +380 4346 2-12-34.

It is important to note that Ukraine implemented a new dialing plan in 2009, removing the leading zero from the area code for international calls. However, within Ukraine, the trunk prefix '0' is still required. There are no overlay codes currently assigned to this area, so local calls within Pohrebyshche and its raion can be made using the 5-digit subscriber number alone if both parties are on the same local exchange, though this practice is becoming less common with the expansion of VoIP and mobile substitution.

Regulatory and Technical Considerations

Geographic numbers in Ukraine, including +380 4346, are primarily used for fixed-line PSTN services. However, with the liberalization of the telecom market, some VoIP providers may offer numbers with this code, but the geographic association remains for routing and emergency services (112). Callers from mobile networks in Ukraine can dial the full national number (0 4346 ...) without any additional charges beyond their standard mobile tariffs. For international callers, the cost is determined by their home operator's international rates. It is also worth noting that number portability exists for fixed lines in Ukraine, meaning a subscriber may retain their number even if they change operators, but the geographic significance of the code remains tied to the original location.
