Area Code 4130 – Korostyshiv, Zhytomyr

The +380 4130 prefix is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the fixed-line telephone network of Korostyshiv, a city in the Zhytomyr Oblast of northern Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) under the framework of ITU-T E.164. The 4130 code specifically routes calls to subscribers connected to the local PSTN exchange in Korostyshiv and the surrounding administrative district, which includes smaller settlements and rural areas that rely on the same central office.

Geographic Coverage and Administration

Korostyshiv is located approximately 30 kilometers east of Zhytomyr, the regional capital, along the Teteriv River. The geographic area covered by the 4130 code is not limited to the city limits; it also serves nearby villages and towns within the Korostyshiv Raion. This is typical for Ukrainian numbering, where a single NDC may cover a city and its adjacent rural hinterland. The code is administered by the local incumbent operator, which is part of the Ukrtelecom group, although alternative fixed-line operators may also offer services in the area using the same geographic prefix.

Dialing Formats

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix '0' must be dialed before the NDC and subscriber number. The full national format is 0 4130 XXX XX, where '0' is the trunk prefix, '4130' is the NDC, and the subscriber number typically consists of five digits, resulting in a total of nine digits after the trunk prefix. For example, a local number might be 0 4130 5 12 34.

For international callers, the Ukrainian country code +380 is used, followed by the NDC without the leading '0'. Thus, the international format is +380 4130 XXX XX. For instance, to call a Korostyshiv number from abroad, one would dial +380 4130 5 12 34.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within Korostyshiv: In many cases, local calls may be dialed using only the five-digit subscriber number, depending on the local exchange configuration. However, for clarity and consistency, it is recommended to use the full national format, especially when calling from mobile phones or other regions.
• Callers from other Ukrainian cities or mobile networks: Dial 0 4130 XXX XX. Mobile operators in Ukraine require the trunk prefix '0' for all national calls, including those to geographic numbers.
• International callers: Dial your country's international access code (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from North America), then 380 4130 XXX XX. Do not include the leading '0' of the national trunk prefix.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest updates, there is no overlay code for Korostyshiv; the 4130 code is the sole geographic NDC for the area. Subscriber numbers are allocated in blocks by the regulator, and the total number capacity is sufficient for the local population. The Ukrainian numbering plan is closed, meaning that all digits must be dialed for a call to be completed, regardless of the caller's location.

For businesses in Korostyshiv, having a local geographic number is essential for establishing a local presence and building trust with customers. The 4130 prefix is also used for fax lines and DSL services, as it is tied to the physical telephone line infrastructure.
