Area Code 3739 – Sokyryany, Chernivtsi

Overview of Area Code +380 3739

Area code +380 3739 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the fixed-line telephone network serving the town of Sokyryany and its surrounding administrative district in the Chernivtsi Oblast of western Ukraine. This code is part of the national numbering plan under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF), following ITU-T E.164 recommendations. The geographic coverage includes Sokyryany urban hromada and adjacent rural settlements within the Dniester River basin, bordering the Republic of Moldova to the east.

Dialing Formats and Usage

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix 0 is used before the area code, followed by the subscriber number. The complete national format is 0 3739 XXX XX, where the total length after the trunk prefix is nine digits (including the NDC). For example, a local subscriber number might be 2 45 67, resulting in the national dialing sequence 0 3739 2 45 67. When dialing from abroad, callers must replace the leading zero with the Ukrainian country code +380, yielding the international format +380 3739 2 45 67. This format is essential for international callers to reach fixed-line subscribers in the Sokyryany district.

Geographic and Administrative Context

Sokyryany is the administrative center of the Sokyryany Raion, which was historically part of the Bukovina region. The area code serves both residential and business lines, including local government offices, enterprises, and public services. As a geographic code, tariffs are typically based on the caller's location, with local calls charged at lower rates compared to long-distance or international calls. The Chernivtsi Oblast is served by several area codes, and 3739 is distinct from the regional capital's code (Chernivtsi city uses 372).

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within the Sokyryany district can often dial the subscriber number directly without the area code, depending on the local exchange configuration. However, for clarity and consistency, it is recommended to use the full national format.
• National callers from other Ukrainian cities must dial 0 3739 followed by the subscriber number.
• International callers must dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries), then 380, then 3739, and the subscriber number, omitting the trunk prefix 0.

No overlay or area code changes are currently planned for this region, but subscribers should verify the correct dialing format with their service provider if they experience issues.
