Area Code 3734 – Deep, Chernivtsi

Geographic Overview and Administrative Jurisdiction

The Ukrainian national destination code +380 3734 is a geographic area code assigned to the town of Deep (Ukrainian: Глибока) and its surrounding administrative district within the Chernivtsi Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. This numbering area falls under the jurisdiction of the Chernivtsi branch of Ukrtelecom, the incumbent fixed-line operator, and is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies (UCRF) in accordance with ITU-T E.164 recommendations.

The Deep district is situated in the historical region of Bukovina, approximately 25 kilometers southwest of the regional capital Chernivtsi, near the border with Romania. The code serves both urban and rural subscribers within the district, including villages such as Karapchiv, Terebleche, and Sucheveny. As a geographic code, +380 3734 is used exclusively for fixed-line PSTN services; mobile numbers in the same area are assigned separate non-geographic prefixes (e.g., 380 67, 380 95) and are not tied to this code.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For domestic callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix 0 is used before the area code, followed by the subscriber number. The complete national format is 0 3734 X-XX-XX, where X represents the 6-digit local subscriber number. For example, a local number might be dialed as 0 3734 2-34-56. When calling from abroad, the international access prefix (typically 00 or +) is used, followed by Ukraine's country code 380, the area code 3734 (without the leading 0), and the 6-digit subscriber number. Thus, an international caller would dial +380 3734 2-34-56.

Local calls within the Deep district do not require the area code; subscribers can dial the 6-digit number directly. However, calls from other Ukrainian regions or from abroad must include the appropriate prefixes. Callers from mobile phones within Ukraine can use either the national format (0 3734 ...) or the international format (+380 3734 ...), as both are supported by Ukrainian mobile networks.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest available data, there is no overlay code for the Deep area; the 3734 code remains the sole geographic code for this district. The subscriber number length is fixed at 6 digits, resulting in a maximum capacity of 1,000,000 numbers, which is sufficient for the district's population. Number portability for fixed lines is available in Ukraine, allowing subscribers to retain their numbers when switching operators within the same geographic area.

For businesses and residents, it is important to note that calls to +380 3734 are charged according to domestic fixed-line tariffs when dialed from within Ukraine, while international rates apply from abroad. Emergency services (101, 102, 103, 104) are reached via short codes and do not require the area code.
