Area Code 3136 – Volovets, Zakarpattia

Overview of Area Code +380 3136

Area code +380 3136 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Volovets and the surrounding Volovets Raion in the Zakarpattia Oblast of western Ukraine. This region, part of the historical Carpathian Ruthenia, is known for its mountainous terrain and proximity to the Carpathian National Park. The code is used for fixed-line telephone services within this administrative district.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The code covers the urban-type settlement of Volovets and nearby villages, including the administrative center of the raion. The area is served by the Ukrainian fixed-line operator, with local exchanges providing PSTN services. The code is allocated under the Ukrainian national numbering plan, which follows ITU-T E.164 recommendations.

Dialing Formats

For callers within Ukraine, the national trunk prefix 0 is used, followed by the area code and the local subscriber number. The local number length in Volovets is typically 5 digits, resulting in a total national significant number of 9 digits (excluding the trunk prefix). The international format for calling from abroad is +380 3136 followed by the 5-digit local number.

Examples:

• Local call (within Volovets): Dial the 5-digit subscriber number directly (e.g., 12345).
• National call (from other Ukrainian cities): Dial 0 3136 12345.
• International call (from outside Ukraine): Dial +380 3136 12345.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest updates, there is no overlay code for this area, meaning the area code is unique to the Volovets region. However, subscribers may have the option to switch to VoIP services, which are non-geographic and may not require the area code. For traditional PSTN lines, the geographic code remains essential for routing.

Caller Instructions

For local callers: If you are within the Volovets area, you can often dial the local number without the area code, depending on your operator's settings. However, for clarity, it is recommended to use the full national format.

For international callers: Always replace the trunk prefix '0' with the country code '+380'. Ensure you have the correct local number, as omitting digits will result in a failed call.

This code is part of the Ukrainian geographic numbering plan, and calls to this number are typically charged as landline calls, with rates depending on the caller's operator and tariff plan.
