Area Code 326 – Hatay

Overview of Area Code +90 326

Area code 326 is the National Destination Code (NDC) for the province of Hatay, located in the southernmost part of Türkiye along the Mediterranean coast and bordering Syria. This geographic code is assigned under the Turkish numbering plan (ITU-T E.164 country code +90) and is used for fixed-line (PSTN) services within the province. The administrative center is Antakya (historically Antioch), with other major districts including İskenderun, Defne, Samandağ, Kırıkhan, and Reyhanlı.

Geographic Coverage and Jurisdiction

The 326 area code covers the entire Hatay Province, which is divided into several districts. The province is known for its diverse cultural heritage and strategic port at İskenderun. All fixed-line subscribers within these districts share the same area code, and local calls between districts within Hatay are dialed without the area code (using only the 7-digit subscriber number).

Dialing Formats

• Local calls (within Hatay): Dial the 7-digit subscriber number directly. For example, to call a number in Antakya, dial 212 34 56.
• Domestic calls from other provinces in Türkiye: Dial 0 326 followed by the 7-digit subscriber number. Example: 0 326 212 34 56.
• International calls from abroad: Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries, or +), then Türkiye's country code 90, then the area code 326 (without the leading 0), and the 7-digit subscriber number. Example: +90 326 212 34 56.

Number Structure and Overlays

Geographic numbers in Türkiye consist of the country code (+90), the NDC (326), and a 7-digit subscriber number, totaling 10 digits when dialed internationally (excluding the +). As of the latest ITU-T recommendations, there are no overlay codes in Hatay; the 326 code is exclusively used for the province. However, due to population growth and increased demand, the numbering capacity is managed by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) to ensure sufficient numbering resources.

Caller Instructions

• For local callers: If you are within Hatay, you can dial the 7-digit number directly without the area code. If you are outside Hatay but within Türkiye, you must include the trunk prefix 0 and the area code 326.
• For international callers: Always use the plus sign (+) or the appropriate international prefix, followed by 90, then 326, then the subscriber number. Do not include the leading 0 used in domestic dialing.

This area code is part of the national geographic numbering plan, and calls to these numbers are typically charged as fixed-line tariffs, depending on the caller's operator and subscription plan.
