Dialing Formats

To call a landline in Nurek from within Tajikistan, subscribers must dial the trunk prefix 0, followed by the area code 3138 and the local subscriber number. The local numbers in Nurek typically consist of 5 to 6 digits, resulting in a complete national significant number (NSN) of 9 digits (excluding the leading trunk prefix). For example, a local number might be formatted as:

• National dialing: 0 3138 5XXXX (or 0 3138 6XXXX)
• International dialing: +992 3138 5XXXX (or +992 3138 6XXXX)

When calling from abroad, the leading 0 is omitted, and the country code +992 is used. For instance, to call a Nurek number 5 4321 from the United States, you would dial: +992 3138 5 4321.

Caller Instructions

Local callers (within Nurek): In many cases, local calls within the same area code may require only the local subscriber number, but it is always safe to use the full national format (0 3138 ...) to ensure connectivity, especially with the increasing use of VoIP and mobile networks.

Callers from other regions of Tajikistan: Dial the trunk prefix 0, then the area code 3138, followed by the local number. Example: 0 3138 5 4321.

International callers: Dial your country's exit code (e.g., 011 from North America, 00 from most European countries), then 992 (Tajikistan's country code), then 3138 and the local number. Example: 011 992 3138 5 4321.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest ITU-T E.164 allocation, Tajikistan has not implemented overlay codes for Nurek. The area code 3138 remains exclusive to the geographic region. However, subscribers should be aware that number portability may allow some numbers to be reassigned to other operators, but the geographic significance remains for routing purposes.

For businesses or individuals in Nurek, it is essential to display numbers in international format (+992 3138 ...) on websites and global directories to facilitate seamless communication from abroad.
