Area Code 3137 – Rudaki

Overview of Area Code 3137

Area code 3137 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the Rudaki District in Tajikistan. Rudaki is a district of national subordination located just south of the capital, Dushanbe, and is part of the Districts of Republican Subordination (DRS). The code is used for fixed-line (PSTN) services within this administrative area.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The Rudaki District, formerly known as Leninskiy District, is named after the famous Persian poet Rudaki. It encompasses the town of Somonyon (the administrative center) and numerous rural communities. The area is closely integrated with the capital region, and its telecommunications infrastructure is managed under the national numbering plan administered by the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Dialing Formats

To call a fixed-line number in Rudaki, the following formats apply:

• National dialing (within Tajikistan): Dial 8 3137 XXX XX (where 8 is the trunk prefix, 3137 is the area code, and XXX XX is the 5-digit local subscriber number).
• International dialing (from abroad): Dial +992 3137 XXX XX (replace the + with your country's international exit code, e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from the US/Canada).

Example: If the local number is 234 56, you would dial 8 3137 234 56 from within Tajikistan, or +992 3137 234 56 from overseas.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest ITU-T E.164 national numbering plan updates, there is no overlay code for the Rudaki area; the 3137 code remains the sole geographic code for the district. All fixed-line numbers in this area are 5 digits long after the area code, resulting in a total national significant number (NSN) length of 9 digits (including the leading 9 of the country code, the full international number is 12 digits).

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within Rudaki: In many cases, local calls can be made using only the 5-digit subscriber number, but it is recommended to use the full national format to avoid confusion, especially with the increasing use of VoIP and mobile services.
• Callers from other regions in Tajikistan: Always use the trunk prefix 8 followed by the area code and subscriber number. Wait for the dial tone after 8 if required by your operator.
• International callers: Use your country's exit code, then 992 (Tajikistan's country code), then 3137 and the subscriber number. Do not include the trunk prefix 8.

For businesses or individuals in Rudaki, it is advisable to list numbers in the international format (+992 3137 XXX XX) to facilitate calls from abroad, especially for tourism or trade-related activities.
