Area Code 877 – Republic of Adygeya

Overview of Area Code +7 877

Area code +7 877 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the Republic of Adygeya, a federal subject of the Russian Federation located in the North Caucasus region. The republic's administrative center is Maykop, and the code covers the entire territory of Adygeya, including its cities, towns, and rural settlements. As part of the Russian numbering plan, the international dialing format for landline numbers in this region is +7 877 XXX-XX-XX, where the NDC is followed by a seven-digit subscriber number.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The Republic of Adygeya is an enclave within the Krasnodar Krai, bordered by the Kuban River. The area code +7 877 serves all districts of the republic, including Maykopsky, Giaginsky, Koshekhablsky, Krasnogvardeysky, and Shovgenovsky districts. Major cities and towns under this code include Maykop, Adygeysk, and the urban-type settlements of Enem and Yablonovsky. The code is managed by the regional branch of Rostelecom and other licensed operators, ensuring PSTN connectivity across the region.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For local callers within the Republic of Adygeya, the national trunk prefix 8 is used, followed by the area code and subscriber number: 8 877 XXX-XX-XX. When calling from any other region of Russia, the same national format applies. For international callers, the country code +7 is used, followed by the area code and subscriber number: +7 877 XXX-XX-XX. It is essential to omit the leading trunk prefix '8' when dialing from abroad.

Example: To call a landline in Maykop from the United States, dial 011 7 877 XXX-XX-XX. From a mobile phone in Russia, dial 8 877 XXX-XX-XX or +7 877 XXX-XX-XX (the latter is recommended for clarity).

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for the Republic of Adygeya; the +7 877 code is the sole geographic NDC for the region. Subscriber numbers are seven digits long, and the total number of available numbers is sufficient for the republic's population. As with all Russian geographic codes, number portability is not available for landline numbers; however, mobile numbers (which use non-geographic prefixes like +7 900-999) can be ported between operators.

Regulatory and Technical Notes

The Russian numbering plan is regulated by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, in accordance with ITU-T E.164 recommendations. The +7 877 code is designated exclusively for fixed-line services, including PSTN and VoIP-based fixed telephony. For VoIP services, the same geographic code is used, but the call routing may be IP-based. Emergency services within the region can be reached via the short codes 101, 102, 103, 104, and 112, regardless of the area code.
