Area Code 32 – Horqueta

Overview of Area Code 32 (Horqueta, Paraguay)

Area code 32 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the city of Horqueta and its surrounding districts within the Concepción Department of Paraguay. Horqueta is a significant agricultural and commercial hub in the northern region of the country, and this code serves both fixed-line PSTN and fixed-wireless telephony services. The code is managed under Paraguay's national numbering plan, which adheres to the ITU-T E.164 international standard.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 32 code covers the urban and rural areas of Horqueta, including nearby localities such as Arroyito and Paso Barreto. It is one of several area codes in the Concepción Department, with the departmental capital, Concepción, using area code 31. Horqueta is located approximately 450 kilometers north of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, and is known for its cattle ranching and agricultural production.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

To call a fixed-line number in Horqueta, the national subscriber number is 7 digits long. The complete international dialing format is:

• International call (from abroad): +595 32 XXX XXXX
• Domestic call (within Paraguay): 032 XXX XXXX

For example, a local number might be dialed as +595 32 452 1234 from overseas, or 032 452 1234 from within Paraguay. Callers from other countries should replace the international access prefix (e.g., 00 or 011) with the + sign when using a mobile phone.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest updates, there is no overlay code for Horqueta; area code 32 is the sole geographic code for this region. However, due to the increasing demand for telecommunication services, Paraguay's telecommunications regulator (CONATEL) periodically reviews numbering resources. It is advisable for businesses to verify the current dialing procedures with their service provider.

Practical Usage for Local and Foreign Callers

For local callers within Horqueta, it is common to dial only the 7-digit subscriber number when calling within the same area code, although including the area code is always safe. For foreign callers, it is essential to use the country code +595 and drop the leading '0' of the domestic trunk prefix. This ensures proper routing through the international gateway.

Understanding the correct dialing format is crucial for both personal and business communications. Whether you are contacting a local business, government office, or residential line, using the correct format ensures your call connects seamlessly.
