Area Code 745 – Larkana

Overview of Area Code 745

Area code 745 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Pakistan numbering plan, assigned to the city of Larkana and its surrounding administrative areas in the Sindh province. Under the ITU-T E.164 international dialing standard, the complete country calling code for Pakistan is +92, so international callers must dial +92 745 followed by the local subscriber number. Domestically, callers within Pakistan dial 0745 (including the trunk prefix '0') before the local number, while callers from outside Pakistan omit the leading '0'.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

Larkana is the headquarters of the Larkana Division and Larkana District, located in northern Sindh. The area code serves not only the city of Larkana but also several nearby towns and rural areas, including Dokri, Bakrani, and Ratodero. The region is historically significant as the gateway to the ancient Indus Valley civilization site of Mohenjo-daro. The NDC 745 is allocated exclusively for fixed-line PSTN services, meaning that numbers under this code are tied to physical lines within the geographic area.

Dialing Formats and Number Length

Local subscriber numbers in the Larkana area typically consist of 7 digits, making the complete domestic format 0 745 XXX XXXX (11 digits including the trunk prefix). For international callers, the format becomes +92 745 XXX XXXX (excluding the leading '0'). When calling within the same area code, it is often possible to omit the area code and trunk prefix, but this practice is becoming less common as Pakistan moves toward full 11-digit dialing for all calls. For example, to call a landline in Larkana from abroad, you would dial +92 745 1234567.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest ITU-T and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) updates, there is no overlay code for Larkana; 745 remains the sole geographic NDC for the region. However, with the growth of telecommunication services, the PTA has implemented number portability, allowing subscribers to retain their numbers when switching operators. This means that a number with the 745 prefix may not always be physically located in Larkana, but it remains associated with the original geographic area for routing purposes.

Caller Instructions

For local callers within Pakistan: Dial the trunk prefix '0', then the area code 745, followed by the 7-digit subscriber number. For example, to call a Larkana landline from Karachi, dial 0745 1234567.

For international callers: Dial your country's exit code (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries), then Pakistan's country code 92, then the area code 745 (without the leading '0'), and finally the subscriber number. Example: +92 745 1234567.

Always verify the current number length with your telecom provider, as the PTA periodically updates numbering plans to accommodate new services.
