Area Code 529 – Sialkot

Geographic Overview

The +92 529 country calling code and area code combination routes calls to the Sialkot telephone exchange within the Punjab province of Pakistan. Sialkot is a major industrial city, renowned for its export-oriented manufacturing of surgical instruments, sports goods, and leather products. The geographic numbering area covers the Sialkot District, including the city center and its surrounding urban and semi-urban localities. As a fixed-line service, this code is assigned to the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and other licensed local loop operators.

Dialing Formats

To call a Sialkot landline from within Pakistan, dial the area code (without the leading zero) followed by the local subscriber number. The complete national significant number (NSN) is 10 digits, comprising the area code 529 and a 7-digit subscriber line.

• National dialing (from other cities in Pakistan): 0529 XXX XXXX
• International dialing (from abroad): +92 529 XXX XXXX
• Local dialing (within Sialkot): XXX XXXX (7-digit local number)

For example, if the local number is 1234567, you would dial 0529 1234567 from anywhere in Pakistan, or +92 529 1234567 from overseas. When calling from a mobile phone in Pakistan, the same national format applies.

Caller Instructions

For local callers: When dialing from a landline within the Sialkot area, you can often use the 7-digit local number directly. However, due to the implementation of the new numbering plan, it is recommended to always use the full 10-digit format (including the area code) to ensure connectivity, especially from mobile networks.

For international callers: Replace the international access prefix (00 or +) with your country's exit code, then dial 92 (Pakistan's country code), followed by 529 and the 7-digit subscriber number. Do not include the leading '0' of the area code when dialing from abroad.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Pakistan migrated to a 10-digit numbering plan in 2009, and the area code 529 is part of this standardized structure. There is no overlay code for Sialkot; the 529 code is exclusive to the geographic region. However, number portability may allow a subscriber to retain their number when moving to another operator within the same exchange area. Calls to this code are charged at local rates when dialed from within Pakistan, but international rates apply when calling from abroad.
