For international callers, the country code for Mongolia is +976. The trunk prefix '0' is omitted when dialing from abroad. Therefore, the international format becomes +976 1272 XXXX. For instance, to reach the same subscriber from overseas, one would dial +976 1272 5678.

Caller Instructions

Local callers within Zuunmod: If you are calling another fixed-line number within the same area code, you may be able to dial only the local subscriber number (XXXX) without the area code, depending on your telephone service provider's local dialing plan. However, for clarity and to avoid misdialing, it is recommended to use the full national format 01272 XXXX.

Callers from other regions in Mongolia: Always dial the trunk prefix 0 followed by the area code and local number: 01272 XXXX.

International callers: Dial your country's international access code (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries), then Mongolia's country code 976, followed by the area code without the leading zero and the local number: +976 1272 XXXX.

Important Considerations

Mongolia's numbering plan follows ITU-T E.164 recommendations. The area code 1272 is geographic, meaning it is tied to the physical location of the telephone line. As of the latest updates, there are no overlay codes for Zuunmod; the 1272 code serves the entire Tuv Province region centered on Zuunmod. Callers should be aware that while mobile numbers in Mongolia are non-geographic and begin with 8 or 9, fixed-line numbers like those using 1272 are strictly for wired connections. If you are experiencing difficulties reaching a number, verify that you are using the correct country code and that you have omitted the trunk prefix '0' when calling from abroad.
