Area Code 3127 – Bishkek, Chuy region

Overview of Area Code +996 3127

Area code 3127 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the Bishkek metropolitan area and parts of the Chuy Region in Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek, the capital and largest city, is the primary hub served by this code, encompassing central districts and adjacent suburban settlements. The code is used for fixed-line PSTN services, including traditional copper lines and some VoIP-based fixed services that are registered to a physical address within the covered territory.

Dialing Formats and Usage

For international callers, the full number format is +996 3127 XXX XX (or +996 312 7XXX XX depending on local grouping). When dialing from abroad, you must replace the leading zero of the trunk prefix with the country code +996. For example, a local number in Bishkek might be written as 0 3127 12345 domestically, but internationally it becomes +996 3127 12345. Within Kyrgyzstan, callers must dial the trunk prefix 0 before the area code, even when calling from a mobile phone. If you are in the same area code, you may still need to dial the full national number (0 3127 XXX XX) depending on the operator's requirements.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The code covers the city of Bishkek and its immediate surroundings, including parts of the Alamudun and Sokuluk districts in the Chuy Region. This area is the political, economic, and cultural center of Kyrgyzstan, hosting government institutions, foreign embassies, and major corporate headquarters. Because Bishkek is the primary business destination, numbers under 3127 are often used by enterprises, government offices, and residential subscribers.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Kyrgyzstan has not implemented an overlay for the Bishkek area; the 3127 code is one of several NDCs serving the capital region. The country's numbering plan follows ITU-T E.164 recommendations, with a total national significant number length of 9 digits (including the leading '0' for domestic dialing). The geographic nature of the code means that number portability is limited to fixed-line operators within the same geographic area, and subscribers cannot move their number outside the Bishkek region without changing their NDC.

Caller Instructions

For local callers within Kyrgyzstan, always dial 0 3127 followed by the subscriber number. For international callers, dial your country's exit code (e.g., 00 from most countries, 011 from North America), then 996, then 3127, and the subscriber number. Do not include the leading '0' when dialing from abroad. Example: To reach a Bishkek number 12345, international callers dial +996 3127 12345.
