Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction
The area code 0714 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the Sekayu area in the province of South Sumatra, Indonesia. Sekayu serves as the administrative capital of the Musi Banyuasin Regency, a significant administrative division in the southern part of Sumatra Island. The code covers the town of Sekayu and its surrounding districts, including the areas of Babat Toman, Sungai Keruh, and Batang Hari Leko. This numbering area is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Indonesian Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BRTI) under the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
Dialing Formats and Number Structure
When dialing a fixed-line number in Sekayu from within Indonesia, the national trunk prefix 0 is used, followed by the area code 714 and the subscriber number. The complete national significant number (NSN) for a local call is typically 0 714 XXXX XXX, where the subscriber number consists of 7 to 8 digits depending on the specific exchange and service provider. For example, a local number might be dialed as 0714 1234567.
For international callers, the Indonesian country code +62 replaces the leading zero. The international dialing format becomes +62 714 XXXX XXX. For instance, if the local number is 0714 1234567, an international caller would dial +62 714 1234567. It is essential to omit the leading zero of the area code when dialing from abroad.
Caller Instructions
Local callers within the Sekayu area can often dial the subscriber number directly without the area code, depending on the local network configuration. However, for calls from other regions in Indonesia, the full national format 0714 followed by the subscriber number is required. Foreign callers must use the international format, ensuring they include the country code and drop the trunk prefix zero.
