Area Code 376 – Selong

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The area code 376 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the telecommunications network serving Selong, the administrative capital of East Lombok Regency (Kabupaten Lombok Timur) in the province of West Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Barat), Indonesia. This code covers the Selong urban area and its surrounding districts within East Lombok, including but not limited to Sukamulia, Labuhan Lombok, and Keruak. The region is part of the island of Lombok, situated east of Bali.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

To call a fixed-line subscriber in Selong from within Indonesia, dial the trunk prefix 0, followed by the area code 376 and the subscriber's 6- to 7-digit local number. For example, a local number such as 123456 would be dialed as 0376 123456 from elsewhere in the country. When calling from abroad, you must replace the leading zero with Indonesia's country calling code +62, resulting in the international format +62 376 123456. Note that the area code is an integral part of the national significant number (NSN) and must always be dialed in full, even for local calls within Selong, as Indonesia uses a closed dialing plan.

Network Infrastructure and Numbering

Subscriber numbers in the 376 area code are allocated to fixed-line services, including PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and fixed wireless access (FWA) lines. The numbering plan follows ITU-T E.164 recommendations, with a total NSN length of 9 to 10 digits for geographic numbers in Indonesia. The code is administered by the Indonesian Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BRTI) and is assigned to incumbent operators such as Telkom Indonesia, as well as other licensed fixed-line providers. As with all geographic codes in Indonesia, the 376 area code is not portable across different geographic regions; a number's area code indicates the physical location of the line's exchange.

Practical Guidance for Callers

• Local callers: Always include the area code, even when dialing from a phone within the same 376 area. For example, to call a neighbor, dial 0376 123456.
• Domestic long-distance callers: From other parts of Indonesia, dial 0376 followed by the local number. For instance, from Jakarta, you would dial 0376 123456.
• International callers: From outside Indonesia, dial your country's international access code (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries), then 62, then 376, and finally the local number, omitting the leading zero. Example: +62 376 123456.

Understanding these dialing conventions ensures seamless connectivity with businesses, government offices, and residents in Selong. Always verify the subscriber number length, as it may vary between 6 and 7 digits depending on the exchange and operator.
