Area Code 1267 – Nuh, Haryana

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The +91 1267 country and area code combination corresponds to the geographic numbering area of Nuh, a district headquarters located in the Mewat region of the northern Indian state of Haryana. Nuh district was carved out of the erstwhile Gurgaon district and is administratively part of the Gurgaon Division. The 1267 STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialing) code serves the entire Nuh district, which includes the towns of Nuh, Ferozepur Jhirka, Punhana, and Taoru, as well as numerous surrounding villages. This area is part of the National Capital Region (NCR), lying to the southwest of Delhi, and is characterized by a mix of agricultural and semi-urban settlements.

Dialing Formats and Usage

For callers within India, dialing a fixed-line number in Nuh requires the trunk prefix '0' followed by the area code and the subscriber number. The local subscriber numbers in Nuh typically consist of 6 digits, making the complete domestic dialing format: 0-1267-XXXXXX. For example, a local Nuh number might be dialed as 0-1267-123456 from anywhere in India. For international callers, the country code for India (+91) replaces the trunk prefix, and the number is dialed as +91-1267-XXXXXX, omitting the leading '0'. Thus, an international caller would dial +91-1267-123456 to reach the same subscriber.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest telecom regulatory updates, there is no overlay code for the 1267 area. The code is exclusively assigned to the Nuh exchange area, and no new area codes have been introduced for this region. Subscribers within Nuh can dial local numbers directly using the 6-digit subscriber number without the area code, provided they are calling within the same STD code area. For calls from neighboring areas such as Gurgaon (124) or Faridabad (129), callers must use the full STD code with the trunk prefix.

Caller Instructions

For local callers within Nuh: simply dial the 6-digit subscriber number. For callers from other parts of India: dial 0-1267-XXXXXX. For international callers: dial +91-1267-XXXXXX. It is important to note that while mobile numbers in India are 10 digits and begin with 9, 8, 7, or 6, fixed-line numbers under the 1267 code are 6 digits and are used for landline connections provided by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and private operators. If you are unsure whether a number is fixed-line or mobile, verify the total number of digits: fixed-line numbers in this area will have 6 digits after the area code, whereas mobile numbers will have 10 digits and are not tied to any geographic area.
