Regulatory and Technical Notes

Geographic numbers in Eswatini are primarily used for fixed-line services, but they may also be used for VoIP services that are registered to a physical location. Number portability is not yet widely implemented, so the prefix generally indicates the geographic location of the subscriber. The Hhohho district includes the capital Mbabane, and Ngwenya is located approximately 25 km west of Mbabane, making it a key residential and industrial area.

When dialing from a mobile phone within Eswatini, it is common practice to include the area code even for local calls, as mobile networks require the full national number. For international callers, it is essential to use the plus sign (+) when possible, as it bypasses country-specific exit codes.
