Geographic Coverage and Administration

Simunye is a small town in the eastern part of Eswatini, near the border with Mozambique and South Africa. It is known for the Royal Swazi Sugar Corporation and the Simunye Industrial Park. The Lubombo District is one of the four administrative districts of Eswatini, and its eastern location makes it a key area for agriculture and trade. The 2383 code serves the fixed-line infrastructure in and around Simunye, including surrounding rural communities.

Dialing Formats

When dialing a number in Simunye from within Eswatini, you must use the national trunk prefix 0 followed by the area code and the subscriber number. For example, a local number might be formatted as 0 2383 XXXX. The total length of a national significant number (NSN) is 8 digits, including the leading 0.

From abroad, callers must use the international access prefix (typically 00 or +), followed by Eswatini's country code 268, then the area code without the leading 0, and the subscriber number. For instance, to call a Simunye number from the United States, you would dial 011 268 2383 XXXX. From the UK, you would dial 00 268 2383 XXXX. If you are using a mobile phone, you can simply dial +268 2383 XXXX.

Caller Instructions

For local callers within Eswatini: Always include the trunk prefix 0 when dialing a fixed-line number in Simunye. For example, to call a number that is 2383 1234, you would dial 0 2383 1234. If you are calling from a mobile phone, you may also need to include the 0, as per the national dialing plan.

For international callers: Replace the leading 0 with the country code 268. So the same number would be dialed as +268 2383 1234. Ensure you have the correct international exit code for your country.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Currently, there are no overlay codes for the Simunye area. The 2383 code is unique to this geographic region. However, as Eswatini's telecommunications network evolves, number portability and the expansion of VoIP services may affect how numbers are routed. Always verify the current dialing procedures with your service provider if you experience issues.
