The +86 812 code covers the entire administrative jurisdiction of Panzhihua, which includes the following districts and counties:

• Dong District (东区)
• Xi District (西区)

Dialing Formats and Instructions

To call a fixed-line number in Panzhihua, the dialing format depends on the caller's location:

• Local calls (within Panzhihua): Dial the 7-digit subscriber number directly. The area code is not required.
• Domestic long-distance calls (from other cities in China): Dial 0 followed by the area code 812 and the 7-digit subscriber number. Example: 0 812 XXX XXXX.
• International calls (from outside China): Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 from most countries), then China's country code 86, then the area code 812 (without the leading 0), and the 7-digit subscriber number. Example: +86 812 XXX XXXX.

For instance, if the local number is 1234567, an international caller would dial +86 812 1234567.

Number Structure and Length

Fixed-line numbers in Panzhihua consist of a total of 11 digits when dialed internationally (country code + area code + subscriber number). The subscriber number is 7 digits long, which is standard for many Chinese cities. The area code 812 is not overlayed with any other codes; it is the sole geographic code for Panzhihua.

Important Considerations

• Mobile phones: Mobile numbers in China begin with 1 and are not tied to geographic area codes. Therefore, a call to a mobile phone in Panzhihua would use the mobile number's own prefix (e.g., 139, 188) and not +86 812.
• VoIP and IP telephony: Some VoIP services may route calls to geographic numbers using the same E.164 format, but the actual routing may differ. Always ensure you dial the correct international format.
• Caller instructions: If you are calling from a foreign country, be aware of your local international dialing prefix (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries).

Understanding the correct dialing format ensures successful connection to businesses, government offices, and residents in Panzhihua.
