Overview of Area Code 7718

Area code 7718 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned within the Bulgarian numbering plan, specifically serving the village of Dragichevo and its immediate vicinity. Dragichevo is located in the Sofia Province, approximately 20 kilometers south of the capital city of Sofia. This code is part of the larger numbering block for the Pernik region (area code 77), which covers the administrative district of Pernik and surrounding municipalities.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 7718 code is allocated to the fixed-line telephone network in Dragichevo, a village in the Vitosha Municipality of Sofia Province. The area is characterized by its proximity to the Vitosha Mountain and is primarily residential, with a mix of permanent residents and seasonal visitors. The code covers the village center and its surrounding neighborhoods, including any fixed-line subscribers connected to the local exchange.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For callers within Bulgaria, the national dialing format for Dragichevo is 07718 XXX XXX, where the leading '0' is the trunk prefix used for domestic calls. For international callers, the country code for Bulgaria is +359, and the leading '0' of the national prefix is dropped. Therefore, the international format becomes +359 7718 XXX XXX.

When dialing from abroad, you must replace the '+' with your country's international access code (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries). For example, a caller from the UK would dial 00 359 7718 XXX XXX to reach a number in Dragichevo.

Local calls within Dragichevo and its immediate area may be made using the local number without the area code, depending on the specific local dialing rules. However, for clarity and to avoid errors, it is recommended to always use the full national or international format when dialing from outside the local exchange area.

Overlay and Numbering Plan Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for the 7718 area. The Bulgarian Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has not implemented any overlay plans for this region, meaning that the area code remains unique for Dragichevo. However, with the ongoing migration to IP-based telephony, some subscribers may have VoIP services that are not tied to a physical location, but the number itself retains its geographic significance for routing and emergency services.

Practical Information for Callers

For businesses or individuals in Dragichevo, it is important to display the number in international format on websites and marketing materials to facilitate global reach. When calling from a mobile phone in Bulgaria, you can dial the national format directly, as mobile networks automatically handle the trunk prefix. For any assistance, contact your service provider or the Bulgarian regulator for the most up-to-date dialing procedures.
