The area code 3524 serves the town itself and nearby villages, including Oborishte and Tsrancha, which are within the municipal boundaries.

Dialing Formats and Usage

For callers within Bulgaria, the national trunk prefix '0' must be dialed before the area code. Therefore, to call a landline in Apriltsi from another Bulgarian city, you would dial: 0 3524 XXX XXX, where the subscriber number is typically 6 digits long, making the total national significant number (NSN) 9 digits (excluding the trunk prefix). For international callers, the format is +359 3524 XXX XXX (or 00359 3524 XXX XXX from countries using the international prefix 00). No leading zero is used after the country code.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Details

The 3524 area code is a geographic code, meaning it is tied to a specific physical location. It falls under the Pazardzhik District, which is part of the South-Central Planning Region of Bulgaria. The region is known for its mountainous terrain, forestry, and small-scale agriculture. The nearest major city is Pazardzhik, which uses area code 34, and the capital Sofia uses area code 2. Calls between different geographic area codes within Bulgaria are charged at national rates, while calls to Apriltsi from abroad are billed according to the international tariffs of the originating country.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest CRC updates, there is no overlay code for the 3524 area. Subscribers in Apriltsi have 6-digit local numbers. When dialing locally within the same area code, it is possible to omit the area code and dial only the 6-digit subscriber number, depending on the operator's configuration. However, for clarity and to avoid misdialing, it is recommended to always use the full national format. Since Bulgaria implemented number portability, users may have ported their numbers to other operators, but the geographic significance of the code remains unchanged for routing purposes.

Practical Instructions for Callers

For local callers: If you are within the 3524 area, you may dial just the 6-digit number. For callers from other Bulgarian regions, dial 0 3524 followed by the subscriber number. For international callers, dial your country's exit code (e.g., 00 or 011), then 359, then 3524, and the subscriber number. Ensure you drop the leading '0' of the area code when calling from abroad. Example: To call a number in Apriltsi with subscriber number 123456, you would dial +359 3524 123456.
