Area Code 3517 – Lesichovo

Overview of Area Code 3517

Area code 3517 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Bulgarian numbering plan, assigned to the town of Lesichovo and its surrounding settlements in the Pazardzhik Province of southern Bulgaria. As a geographic code, it routes calls to a specific administrative and telecommunications region, in accordance with ITU-T E.164 recommendations. The code is used for fixed-line (PSTN) services, and subscribers are allocated numbers with a total length of 12 digits in international format, including the country code +359.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

Lesichovo is the administrative center of the Lesichovo Municipality, located in the western part of the Pazardzhik Province. The area code 3517 serves the town itself and the nearby villages within the municipality, such as Borimechkovo, Dinkata, and Shtarkovo. This region is situated in the Thracian Valley, near the Maritsa River, and is known for its agricultural production. The code is managed by the Bulgarian Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) and is allocated to fixed-line operators providing services within this specific geographic area.

Dialing Formats and Instructions

For callers within Bulgaria, dialing a number in the 3517 area requires the national trunk prefix 0 followed by the area code and the subscriber's local number. For example, to reach a local subscriber with the number 12345, you would dial 03517 12345. When calling from abroad, you must omit the leading zero and include the Bulgarian country code, resulting in +359 3517 12345. This format is essential for international callers to ensure proper routing through the global telephone network.

Numbering and Overlay Considerations

Subscriber numbers within the 3517 area code typically consist of 5 to 6 digits, depending on the operator's allocation. As of the current numbering plan, there is no overlay code in this region, meaning that the 3517 code is exclusively used for fixed-line services in the Lesichovo area. However, with the ongoing migration to VoIP and NGN (Next Generation Networks), some operators may offer location-independent services, but the geographic significance of the code remains for traditional PSTN routing.

Practical Guidance for Callers

For local callers within Lesichovo, short-dialing between numbers in the same area code may be possible without the trunk prefix, but it is recommended to always use the full national format to avoid confusion. For international callers, it is crucial to replace the leading zero with the +359 country code. For example, a call from the United States to Lesichovo would be dialed as 011 359 3517 12345. Always verify the subscriber number length with your contact, as numbers may vary. This code is not associated with mobile services; mobile numbers in Bulgaria use separate non-geographic prefixes such as 87, 88, 89, 98, 99, etc.
