Area Code 3320 – Oreshets, Plovdiv

Overview of Area Code 3320 (Oreshets, Plovdiv)

Area code 3320 is a geographic destination code within the Bulgarian national numbering plan, assigned to the town of Oreshets and its immediate vicinity in the Plovdiv Province of central Bulgaria. The code is part of the larger Plovdiv numbering area, which is administered under the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) of Bulgaria. As a geographic code, 3320 is tied to a specific physical location, and calls to numbers bearing this prefix are routed to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) infrastructure serving that region.

Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 3320 area code covers Oreshets, a small settlement located in the western part of the Plovdiv Province, near the towns of Stamboliyski and Perushtitsa. The administrative jurisdiction falls under the Plovdiv Province, which is one of the 28 provinces of Bulgaria. The code serves both residential and business subscribers within the local exchange area, and it is used for fixed-line telephony services provided by incumbent and alternative operators.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For callers within Bulgaria, the national trunk prefix is 0, followed by the area code 3320 and the subscriber number. The local subscriber number length in Bulgaria is typically 6 digits for geographic codes, but in smaller exchanges like Oreshets, it may be shorter. The complete national format is: 0 3320 XXX XX (where X represents the local digits). For example, a local number might be dialed as 03320 12345 from within Bulgaria.

For international callers, the country code for Bulgaria is +359, and the leading 0 is omitted. The international dialing format is: +359 3320 XXX XX. For instance, to call a number in Oreshets from abroad, you would dial +359 3320 12345.

Overlay and Numbering Plan Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for the 3320 area. The Plovdiv region uses multiple area codes (e.g., 32 for Plovdiv city, 3320 for Oreshets), and local calls within the same numbering area may require only the subscriber number if the call is within the same exchange, but this is not standard across Bulgaria. It is always safest to use the full national format when dialing from a different area.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers (within Oreshets): If you are calling from another fixed line within the same exchange, you may be able to dial just the local subscriber number. However, for clarity and to avoid misdialing, it is recommended to use the full national format: 03320 XXX XX.
• National callers (from other parts of Bulgaria): Dial 0 then 3320 then the subscriber number: 03320 XXX XX.
• International callers: Dial your country's international access code (e.g., 00 from most of Europe, 011 from North America), then 359, then 3320, then the subscriber number: 00 359 3320 XXX XX.

This area code is used exclusively for fixed-line services; mobile numbers in Bulgaria are assigned separate non-geographic prefixes (e.g., 87, 88, 89) and are not affected by this code.
