Area Code 3072 – Nedelino

Overview of Area Code 3072 (Nedelino, Bulgaria)

Area code 3072 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Bulgarian national numbering plan, conforming to ITU-T E.164 recommendations. It is assigned to the town of Nedelino and its surrounding villages in the Smolyan Province, located in the central Rhodope Mountains of southern Bulgaria. The code is administered by the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) of Bulgaria and is allocated to fixed-line PSTN services.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

Nedelino serves as the administrative center of the Nedelino Municipality. The area code 3072 covers the town itself and the following villages: Burevo, Dimovo, Dyadovtsi, Elenka, Gorna Koznitsa, Gorna Kovachevitsa, Gorna Koznitsa, Koznitsa, Kovachevitsa, Manastir, Momchilovtsi, Nedelino, Ogradna, Petkovo, Srednogortsi, Sredna, Stoyanovo, Tarnovo, and Varlino. The region is known for its mountainous terrain, traditional architecture, and proximity to the Devin and Zlatograd areas.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

When calling a fixed-line subscriber in Nedelino from within Bulgaria, the national trunk prefix 0 is dialed before the area code, followed by the subscriber's 5-digit local number. The complete national format is: 0 3072 XXX XX (where X represents a digit). For example, a local number might be 0 3072 12345.

For international callers, the Bulgarian country code +359 replaces the leading zero. The international format is: +359 3072 XXX XX. For instance, to call the same number from abroad, you would dial +359 3072 12345.

It is important to note that the leading '0' is only used for domestic calls within Bulgaria; it is omitted when dialing from outside the country. Also, the area code is mandatory for all calls to fixed lines in Nedelino, even if calling from a mobile phone within Bulgaria.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

Currently, there is no overlay code for area 3072; it is the sole geographic code for Nedelino. Subscriber numbers are 5 digits long, making the total length of a national significant number (NSN) 8 digits (excluding the trunk prefix). The numbering capacity is sufficient for the local population density.

As part of Bulgaria's transition to full number portability, fixed-line subscribers in Nedelino may retain their numbers when switching between fixed-line operators, but the geographic significance of the code remains tied to the physical location of the exchange.
