Area Code 2137 – Dubrovno, Vitebsk Region

Overview of Belarus Area Code +375 2137

Area code 2137 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the town of Dubrovno and its surrounding administrative district within the Vitebsk Region of Belarus. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, following ITU-T E.164 recommendations. Calls to this code route to fixed-line subscribers connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) in the Dubrovno area.

Geographic Coverage and Jurisdiction

Dubrovno is located in the eastern part of the Vitebsk Region, near the border with Russia. The area code covers the town itself and the rural localities within the Dubrovno District. The administrative center is Dubrovno, and the region is known for its agricultural and light industrial activities. The code is used for both local residential and business fixed-line services.

Dialing Formats

For callers within Belarus (domestic calls), the national trunk prefix 8 is used, followed by the area code and the subscriber number. The local subscriber number length in the 2137 area is typically 5 digits, resulting in a complete domestic format of 8-2137-XXXXX. For example, to call a fixed line in Dubrovno from Minsk, you would dial: 8 2137 12345.

For international callers, the Belarus country code +375 is used, followed by the area code (without the leading trunk prefix) and the subscriber number. The international format is +375 2137 XXXXX. For instance, from the United States, you would dial: 011 375 2137 12345. From the United Kingdom, you would dial: 00 375 2137 12345.

Overlay Considerations and Numbering Changes

As of the latest updates, there are no overlay codes in the Dubrovno area; the 2137 code remains the sole geographic code for this district. However, the Belarusian numbering plan has undergone changes in recent years to align with E.164 standards. In 2021, the trunk prefix was changed from 8 to 0 for all domestic calls, but this transition was later reverted. As of now, the trunk prefix is 8 for fixed-line calls. Always verify current dialing instructions with your service provider or the Belarusian telecom regulator if you are setting up a service.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within the Dubrovno area may be able to dial only the 5-digit subscriber number for local calls, depending on the operator's configuration. However, it is safer to use the full national format.
• Domestic long-distance callers from other Belarusian cities must dial 8, wait for a dial tone (in some legacy systems), then dial 2137 followed by the subscriber number.
• International callers must replace the trunk prefix with the Belarus country code +375 and omit the leading 8.

When storing Belarusian numbers in a phone's contact list, it is recommended to use the international format +375 2137 XXXXX to ensure proper dialing from any location.
