Area Code 3127 – Akhuryan, Shirak

Overview of Area Code 3127

Area code 3127 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Armenian numbering plan, assigned to the town of Akhuryan and its surrounding rural communities in the Shirak Province (Shirak marz). This region is located in the northwestern part of Armenia, near the border with Turkey and Georgia. Akhuryan serves as an important administrative and agricultural hub within Shirak, with the provincial capital Gyumri located approximately 15 kilometers to the west.

Dialing Format

When calling a fixed-line subscriber in Akhuryan from within Armenia, the national trunk prefix 0 must be dialed before the area code. The complete national subscriber number is 0 3127 XX XX, where '0' is the trunk prefix, '3127' is the area code, and the remaining six digits (represented by 'XX XX') are the local subscriber number. For example, a local number such as 45 67 89 would be dialed as 0 3127 45 67 89 from any other part of Armenia.

For international callers, the Armenian country code +374 replaces the trunk prefix. Thus, the same number would be dialed as +374 3127 45 67 89 from abroad. Note that the leading '0' of the national trunk prefix is omitted when using the international format.

Geographic Coverage and Administration

The 3127 numbering area encompasses the town of Akhuryan and adjacent villages, including Arevik, Bayanur, and Kamo. These localities are served by the Armenian fixed-line network, which is primarily operated by ArmenTel (a subsidiary of VEON) and other licensed operators. The region is part of the Shirak Province, which is known for its historical significance and agricultural production.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within Akhuryan: In most cases, local calls within the same area code may be made using only the six-digit subscriber number, without the trunk prefix or area code. However, this depends on the specific operator's dialing plan; it is always safe to dial the full national format (0 3127 XX XX) to ensure connectivity.
• Callers from other Armenian cities: Dial 0 3127 followed by the six-digit local number.
• International callers: Dial your country's international access code (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries), then 374, then 3127, and finally the six-digit subscriber number.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest ITU-T E.164 allocation, there is no overlay code for the 3127 area. The numbering capacity is sufficient for the current subscriber base. However, if you experience difficulties reaching a number, verify that you are using the correct area code and that the number has not been migrated to a mobile network (mobile numbers in Armenia begin with 77, 91, 93, 94, 98, and 99).

For businesses in Akhuryan, it is recommended to list both national and international formats on websites and marketing materials to facilitate communication with clients and partners abroad.
