Dialing Formats and Procedures

Understanding the correct dialing format is essential for both domestic and international callers.

• Domestic Calls (within Armenia): To call a Kajaran number from another Armenian city or region, dial the full national number: 0 2853 XX XXX. The leading '0' is the national trunk prefix used to access the public switched telephone network (PSTN) within Armenia.
• International Calls (from abroad): Callers outside Armenia should dial the international access prefix of their country (e.g., 00, 011), followed by the Armenia country code +374, then the area code 2853, and the subscriber number. The complete international format is +374 2853 XX XXX.
• Local Calls (within Kajaran): For calls between subscribers within the same local area, it may be possible to dial only the subscriber number (XX XXX) without the trunk prefix and area code, depending on the local network configuration. However, using the full national format is always reliable.

For example, a local Kajaran number might be formatted as 0 2853 4 12 34 domestically and +374 2853 4 12 34 internationally.

Regulatory and Technical Notes

Armenia's numbering plan is administered by the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC). Geographic numbers are tied to a physical location, meaning the tariff for calling a +374 2853 number is typically based on the call's destination, not the caller's location. As of the latest updates, there are no overlay codes in Kajaran; the 2853 area code is unique to this region. However, number portability may allow subscribers to retain their number when moving to a different operator, but the geographic significance remains for routing purposes.

For businesses or individuals requiring a local presence in Kajaran, obtaining a 2853 number can enhance local credibility and facilitate communication with the community. When dialing from abroad, always verify the current dialing instructions with your carrier, as international prefix variations exist.
