Area Code 2677 – Berd, Tavush

Overview of Area Code 2677

Area code 2677 is a geographic destination code assigned to the town of Berd and its surrounding rural communities within the Tavush Province of Armenia. This code is part of the national numbering plan administered by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia, following ITU-T E.164 recommendations. Berd is located in the northeastern part of the country, near the border with Azerbaijan, and serves as an administrative center for the region.

The geographic area covered by 2677 includes Berd itself, along with nearby villages such as Artsvaberd, Choratan, and Movses. These localities are served by fixed-line PSTN infrastructure, with copper and fiber-optic connections provided by the national incumbent operator and alternative licensed carriers.

Dialing Formats and Instructions

When calling a fixed-line subscriber in Berd from within Armenia, the national trunk prefix 0 is dialed, followed by the area code and the subscriber's local number. The local numbers in Berd typically consist of 5 to 6 digits, but the total length of the national significant number (NSN) is always 8 digits (excluding the trunk prefix). For example, a local number might be formatted as:

• National dialing (from within Armenia): 0 2677 XXXXX
• International dialing (from abroad): +374 2677 XXXXX

Here, the +374 is the country calling code for Armenia, and the leading 0 is dropped when dialing from outside the country. It is crucial to replace the '0' with the international access code of the originating country (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from the United States) when placing an international call.

Local and International Caller Guidance

For callers within Berd, local calls may be made by dialing only the subscriber number without the area code, depending on the operator's local dialing plan. However, for clarity and to avoid misdialing, it is recommended to use the full national format. For callers from other Armenian cities or from abroad, the full number with the appropriate prefix is required.

As of the latest numbering plan updates, there is no overlay code for the Berd area, meaning that 2677 is the sole area code for this region. The number of fixed lines in the area is limited, and the code is not portable to other geographic regions; it is strictly tied to the PSTN infrastructure of Berd and its environs.

For businesses or individuals planning to establish a presence in Berd, obtaining a local number with the 2677 code can enhance local trust and accessibility. For international partners, it is essential to verify the correct dialing sequence to ensure seamless connectivity.
