Area Code 2675 – Artsvaberd/Berd, Tavush

Overview of Area Code 2675

Area code 2675 is a geographic numbering plan allocation within the Armenian public switched telephone network (PSTN), designated for the town of Artsvaberd and its surrounding rural communities in the Tavush Province of northeastern Armenia. This code is part of the national destination code (NDC) structure defined under the ITU-T E.164 recommendation, used for routing calls to fixed-line subscribers in this specific administrative district. The region is characterized by its proximity to the border with Azerbaijan and its mountainous terrain, which influences the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 2675 code serves the administrative territory of the Artsvaberd community, which includes the town of Artsvaberd itself and several adjacent villages such as Chinari, Aygepar, and Movses. These localities fall under the broader Tavush Province, with the provincial capital at Ijevan. The numbering area is exclusively geographic, meaning that the code is tied to the physical location of the fixed-line subscriber's exchange. Calls to numbers within this code are routed via the Armenian PSTN, and the code is not portable to other regions or mobile networks.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

For callers within Armenia, the national dialing format requires the trunk prefix 0 followed by the area code and the subscriber number. The complete national significant number (NSN) length for fixed-line numbers in Armenia is 8 digits, with area codes varying from 2 to 4 digits. For the 2675 code, the subscriber number typically consists of 4 to 5 digits, resulting in a total NSN of 8 digits. An example of a local number is 2675 4 12 34 (where the space is for readability). To call this number from within Armenia, a caller would dial: 0 2675 4 12 34.

For international callers, the country calling code for Armenia is +374. The trunk prefix is omitted, and the caller must dial the full international format: +374 2675 4 12 34. It is important to note that the leading '0' of the national trunk prefix is not used when dialing from abroad. For example, a caller from the United States would dial: 011 374 2675 4 12 34, while a caller from most European countries would dial: 00 374 2675 4 12 34.

Overlay and Numbering Plan Considerations

As of the current Armenian numbering plan, there are no overlay codes for the 2675 area. The code is exclusively assigned to the Artsvaberd/Berd region, and no other geographic area shares this code. The Armenian Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (PSRC) manages the allocation of numbering resources, and any changes to the numbering plan are announced well in advance. For fixed-line subscribers in this area, the subscriber number length may vary depending on the capacity of the local exchange, but the total NSN length remains constant at 8 digits.

Practical Guidance for Callers

When placing a call to a fixed-line number in Artsvaberd, it is essential to verify the correct area code and subscriber number. For local callers within the same area code, it may be possible to dial only the subscriber number, depending on the local dialing procedures. However, for clarity and consistency, it is recommended to always use the full national format. For callers using VoIP services or mobile phones, the same dialing rules apply, but be aware that some service providers may require the international format even for domestic calls if the call is routed via IP. Always check with your service provider for specific dialing instructions.
