Area Code 2569 – Stepanavan, Lori

Overview of Area Code +374 2569

Area code 2569 is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) within the Armenian numbering plan, assigned to the city of Stepanavan and its surrounding areas in the Lori Province. This code is used for fixed-line (PSTN) services, and it follows the ITU-T E.164 international dialing format. Stepanavan is a regional administrative center located in northern Armenia, near the border with Georgia, and is known for its scenic mountain landscapes and historical significance.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Jurisdiction

The 2569 area code covers Stepanavan and the adjacent rural communities that fall under the Stepanavan Municipality. As a geographic code, it identifies the physical location of the subscriber's line. The region is part of Lori Province, which is one of Armenia's ten administrative provinces (marzes). The code is managed by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia, and fixed-line services are primarily provided by the national incumbent operator, Telecom Armenia (formerly Beeline), though other licensed operators may also offer services in the area.

Dialing Formats and Caller Instructions

To call a fixed-line number in Stepanavan, the dialing format depends on the caller's location:

• Local calls (within Stepanavan): Dial the 6-digit subscriber number directly. For example, if the subscriber number is 3-45-67, local callers dial 3-45-67.
• National calls (from other parts of Armenia): Dial 0 followed by the area code and subscriber number. For example, to reach the same number from Yerevan, dial 0 2569 3-45-67.
• International calls (from outside Armenia): Dial the international access prefix (e.g., 00 or +), then the country code 374, the area code (without the leading 0), and the subscriber number. For example, from the United States, dial 011 374 2569 3-45-67; from most European countries, dial 00 374 2569 3-45-67.

When dialing from a mobile phone, the same international format applies, but the plus sign (+) is often used in place of the international prefix. It is important to note that the leading '0' used for national long-distance calls is not part of the country code and must be omitted when dialing from abroad.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the latest numbering plan updates, there are no overlay codes for Stepanavan; the 2569 area code remains the sole geographic code for the city. The subscriber numbers are typically 6 digits long, resulting in a total national significant number length of 8 digits (including the area code, but excluding the trunk prefix '0'). This is consistent with Armenia's national numbering plan, which uses 8-digit subscriber numbers for geographic areas. No special dialing restrictions apply, and the code is not subject to number portability for fixed lines in the same way as mobile numbers, though fixed-line portability is available within the same geographic area.

For callers, it is essential to verify the correct area code when placing calls to Stepanavan, as misdialing may route the call to a different region. For international callers, always check the current dialing procedures with your service provider, as some may require different exit codes.
