Area code 2441 is a geographic destination code within the Armenian national numbering plan, assigned to the town of Artik and the adjacent locality of Pemzashen, both situated in the Shirak Province (Shirak marz) in northwestern Armenia. This code is part of the 2xxx range that designates fixed-line services in Armenia, as administered by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia in accordance with ITU-T E.164 recommendations.

Geographic Coverage and Administrative Context

Artik serves as the administrative center of the Artik Municipality and is known for its tuff stone industry. Pemzashen is a nearby village, also within the Shirak Province. The region is characterized by its mountainous terrain and proximity to the city of Gyumri, the provincial capital, which uses a different area code (312). The 2441 code covers the local exchange area serving both Artik and Pemzashen, providing PSTN and VoIP fixed-line services to residential and business subscribers.

Dialing Formats and Instructions

For callers within Armenia, the national trunk prefix is 0, followed by the area code and the subscriber number. The complete national significant number for Artik/Pemzashen is 244 1XXXX, where the subscriber number is typically 4 digits. To call a local number from another Armenian city, dial:

• 0 244 1XXXX (e.g., 0 244 12345)

For international callers, the Armenian country code is +374, and the leading trunk prefix is omitted. Thus, from abroad, dial:

• +374 244 1XXXX (e.g., +374 244 12345)

When dialing locally within the same area code, it may be possible to omit the area code, but it is recommended to always use the full national format to avoid confusion, especially with the increasing use of VoIP and mobile services.

Overlay and Numbering Considerations

As of the current numbering plan, there is no overlay code for the Artik/Pemzashen area. The 2441 code is dedicated to fixed-line services, and no mobile numbers are assigned under this prefix. Mobile numbers in Armenia begin with 77, 91, 93, 94, 95, 96, 98, 99 and are non-geographic. When calling a fixed line in Artik from a mobile phone, the same national format (0 244 1XXXX) applies.

Caller Instructions

Local callers (within Armenia): Always include the trunk prefix 0 and the area code, even if calling from a nearby town, to ensure proper routing. International callers: Replace the trunk prefix with the +374 country code and omit the initial 0. Ensure you have the correct international exit code for your country (e.g., 011 from the US/Canada, 00 from most European countries).

For businesses in Artik/Pemzashen, having a local number with area code 2441 establishes a geographic presence and can be important for local customer trust. For those outside Armenia, using the +374 2441 format is essential to reach these fixed-line subscribers.
