Area Code 2373 – Metsamor, Armavir

Geographic Overview

The +374 2373 prefix is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the city of Metsamor, located in the Armavir Province of Armenia. Metsamor is a significant urban center, known primarily for the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, which supplies a substantial portion of Armenia's electricity. The code serves the city and its immediate surrounding areas, including nearby villages within the Armavir administrative district.

Dialing Formats

For callers within Armenia, the number must be dialed in the national format: 0 2373 XXXXX, where '0' is the trunk prefix, '2373' is the area code, and 'XXXXX' represents the local subscriber number (typically 5 digits). For international callers, the format is +374 2373 XXXXX, omitting the leading '0'.

Caller Instructions

Local callers (within Metsamor): In most cases, the full national format (0 2373 XXXXX) is required, as Armenia uses a closed dialing plan for geographic numbers. Some local calls may be possible without the area code, but it is recommended to always use the full number to avoid routing errors.

International callers: Dial your country's international access code (e.g., 011 from the US, 00 from most European countries), followed by Armenia's country code 374, then the area code 2373 and the subscriber number. Example: +374 2373 12345.

Overlay and Numbering Plan Considerations

Armenia's numbering plan is regulated by the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC). The 2373 code is a dedicated geographic code for Metsamor; no overlay codes are currently in effect. The number length is fixed at 8 digits (including the area code) for all geographic numbers in Armenia, ensuring uniformity in dialing.

Service Providers

Fixed-line services in this region are primarily provided by Armenia's national operator, ArmenTel (Beeline), and alternative operators such as Rostelecom Armenia and Ucom may also offer services in the area. Number portability is not widely available for geographic numbers, so the prefix generally indicates the physical location of the line.

Important Notes

• When calling from a mobile phone in Armenia, the same national format (0 2373 XXXXX) applies.
• For calls to Metsamor from Yerevan, the national format is used; no special intercity prefix is required.
• Ensure you have the correct 5-digit subscriber number; missing digits will result in a failed call.
