Charentsavan, located approximately 40 kilometers north of the capital Yerevan, is an important industrial and transportation hub in the region. Dialing Formats

For callers within Armenia, dialing a local Charentsavan number requires the trunk prefix 0 followed by the area code and the subscriber number. The national significant number (NSN) for Charentsavan is eight digits, comprising the area code 226 and a six-digit local subscriber number. The complete national dialing format is:

When dialing from abroad, you must omit the leading 0 used in national dialing. For example, a local number such as 5 12 34 56 would be dialed as 0 226 5 12 34 56 from within Armenia, and as +374 226 5 12 34 56 from any other country.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers (within Armenia): Always use the trunk prefix 0 before the area code, even when calling from another fixed line in the same region. For example, to call a Charentsavan number from Yerevan, dial 0 226 XX XX XX.
• International callers: Dial your country's international access code (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from the US/Canada), followed by Armenia's country code 374, then the area code 226 without the leading zero, and the six-digit subscriber number. Example: 00 374 226 XX XX XX.

Numbering and Overlay Considerations

Armenia's numbering plan follows the ITU-T E.164 recommendation. The area code 226 is a geographic code, meaning that the tariff and routing are based on the physical location of the line. As of the latest numbering plan updates, there is no overlay code in Charentsavan; the 226 code is exclusively used for fixed-line services in this area. Subscriber numbers within this code are six digits long, allowing for a maximum of 1,000,000 unique numbers. Mobile numbers in Armenia are assigned separate non-geographic prefixes (e.g., 77, 91, 93, 94, 98, 99) and are not affected by the 226 area code.

For businesses and residents in Charentsavan, the 226 code is a critical part of their identity, ensuring efficient call routing and clear differentiation from other Armenian regions. When updating contact information, always verify the correct area code to avoid misdialing.
