Area Code 2232 – Hrazdan, Kotayk

Geographic Overview

The +374 2232 numbering block is a geographic National Destination Code (NDC) assigned to the city of Hrazdan, the administrative center of the Kotayk Province in central Armenia. This code covers the urban area of Hrazdan and its immediate suburban settlements, including nearby communities such as Vanadzor? (No, Vanadzor is in Lori) – correction: Hrazdan's immediate vicinity includes villages like Jrarat, Kaghsi, and Solak, which are served by the same fixed-line exchange.

Dialing Formats

To call a fixed-line subscriber in Hrazdan from within Armenia, dial the trunk prefix 0, followed by the NDC 2232 and the subscriber's 5-digit local number. The national format is: 0 2232 XX XXX. For example, a local number 12345 would be dialed as 0 2232 12345 from Yerevan or any other Armenian city.

For international callers, the country code +374 replaces the trunk prefix, and the NDC is used without the leading 0. The international format is: +374 2232 XX XXX. Thus, the same subscriber would be reached from abroad by dialing +374 2232 12345.

Caller Instructions

• Local callers within Hrazdan may sometimes omit the area code if the network supports 5-digit local dialing, but this is not guaranteed; always use the full national format to ensure connectivity.
• Foreign callers must replace the international access code (e.g., 00 from most European countries, 011 from the US/Canada) with the appropriate exit code, then dial 374 2232 followed by the local number.
• Mobile callers in Armenia can dial the national format directly; no special prefix is required for mobile-to-fixed calls.

Regulatory and Technical Notes

The Armenian Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (PSRC) administers the national numbering plan under ITU-T E.164. The 2232 code is part of the geographic numbering scheme, and numbers are allocated to fixed-line operators such as ArmenTel (Beeline) and Ucom. As of the latest updates, no overlay code has been introduced for Hrazdan; the 2232 code remains the sole geographic code for the city. Subscriber numbers are 5 digits long, giving a maximum capacity of 100,000 numbers within this exchange.

For businesses, using a geographic number like +374 2232 enhances local presence and trust. However, if your operations require a non-geographic presence, consider Armenia's 800 (toll-free) or 60 (universal access) codes.
